The six credible motoring experts undertaking the judging of the AA Motoring Excellence Awards consist of five top New Zealand motoring journalists, and a top New Zealand rally driver.
Introducing the judges
Brian Cowan: AA Motoring Excellence Awards Chief Judge and acclaimed motoring journalist, Brian has been on the judging panel for the AA since 2003. An internationally respected judge sitting on juries for 'International Car of the Year' and 'Engine of the Year', he also contributes to Nzcarinfo.com and NZ Thoroughbred Owner.
Dave Moore: A former career in advertising and a highly recognised motoring writer, Dave has more than thirty trophies including two consecutive AA Motoring Excellence Awards for Excellence in Journalism. An AA Motoring Excellence Awards judge since 2006, Dave contributes to a number of publications and websites including The Press (Christchurch), The Christchurch Mail, Dominion Post, Trademe Motoring, NZ Autocar, Stuff.co.nz, JustAuto.com, Drive talk motoring blog and radio station Newztalk ZB.
Emma Gilmour: Racing in New Zealand and overseas, semi professional rally car driver Emma Gilmour has been an AA Motoring Excellence Awards judge since 2005. During 2006, Emma finished third in Targa Rally and was also awarded the prestigious Rally Founders Trophy. In 2007, Emma finished second overall in the Otago Rally and was also a Subaru Rally Team Japan guest driver.
Jacqui Madelin: Jacqui has been with us on the judging panel since 2005. A keen motorcyclist, Jacqui contributes regularly to Motoring for Herald on SUnday, NZ Investor, Top Gear and Motorcycles in Manawatu Evening Standard and Otago Daily Times.
Mike Stock: Mike joins the AA Motoring Excellence Awards judging panel this year for the first time. Recipient of the AA Motoring Journalist Award in 2008, Mike is well known for his work as Editor at Auto Trader magazine and more recently as Motoring and Motorsport Editor for the autotrader.co.nz website. He has written about cars and motorsport fulltime since 1985 and was the MotorSport New Zealand journalist of the year in 2008. He's a lifelong motorsport fan.
Richard Bosselman: New to the AA Motoring Excellence Awards judges panel this year is Richard Bosselman, currently contributing to the Otago Daily Times, CarMagazine New Zealand and Yahoo!xtra Motoring.
