Traffic travel time information service launched for New Zealand

The AA has launched New Zealand’s leading traffic travel time information service.

The service provides motorists with current travel time information for 120 selected routes across New Zealand. In addition to the current travel times motorists are also provided with the normal travel time, for the time of the day, and ideal travel times for those routes.

Motorists can view the traffic travel times online and free of charge at www.aaroadwatch.co.nz

“This travel time service means the AA has New Zealand’s most comprehensive real time traffic information service,” says AA Traffic spokesperson Phil Allen.

“The current travel times are updated every five minutes using data collected from thousands of vehicles around the country. The normal travel times are based on the averages for the past 12 months, while the ideal travel times are based on there being no traffic congestion at all on the route and a vehicle travelling at the speed limit.”

“Motorists are now better able to plan their journeys in advance or choose an alternative route, with shorter travel times, when trying to reach their destination.”

“The AA is committed to increasing the number of travel time routes across New Zealand. Motorists can suggest new routes by completing the feedback form on the website,” says Mr Allen.

The AA’s traffic travel time information service has been developed by Geosmart, the AA-owned online mapping company.
