I am tossing up between buying a 2005 Nissan Presage 2.5 OR Honda Odyssey of similar age. I have heard there can be serious transmission issues with Odysseys of that era. Are they generally justified do you think? Or would I be looking at similar levels of reliability with the Nissan by and large?

I think you are right, I have heard the Odysseys around this year can have transmission issues.
The Nissan Presage would be the better choice.
