We are looking at purchasing a Mazda Verisa which appears to have positive reviews on this website and others (looking for a reliable non-CTV compact hatchback). Most of the models we are considering within our price range (under $7k), seem to be 2006 models. However I just found a link online about some 2003 to 2006 models being recalled in Japan. (http://www.streetdirectory.com/travel_guide/52644/performance_cars/mazda_to_recall_280000_demio_and_verisa_compact_models_in_japan.html).

Does this impact NZ imported cars? Should we be avoiding the 2003-2006 models? Does this recall affect all Demio and Verisa models produced within that date range or just specific models? Is there anywhere we can find more information on this issue? (I looked on the Mazda website but couldn't find anything specific to that recall).

Your advice would be appreciated. We will also book an AA inspection before we purchase, once we decide our preferred dealer/vehicle.

Thanks, Catherine

Hi Catherine,
Recall information can be found here: https://www.vehiclerecallsafety.nzta.govt.nz/
There is no Demio or Verisa that I can see included in this year range.
They generally seem to be good vehicles and we haven't received many complaints.
