I am looking at buying a Honda FIT (sports) 2006 with 95k on the clock, for $5k + ORC (this is my budget). This is a Japanese import. The AA initial inspection said above average condition for age and milage. I am aware there was some issues with the CVT, would you recommend another model? I am also getting a full aa inspection completed, should this tell me about the transmission?
There was a slight shudder/judder on starting and the garage have said they will sort this out and it should run clear for another 1-2 years? (They will clear the transmission fluid?)
They are offering me mechanical warranty for $795 for 3 years, is this a good option and a fair price?
Thanks

Hi there,
The shuddering is reported to be due to the battery going flat and the transmission losing its starting memory. So apparently just requires a reset with the correct scan tool.
Some also say this can be fixed by an additive. I do know the transmission requires good fluid (genuine preferred) If the problem is anything more than this it could be costly to repair. Our MBI is a very similar price for 3 years, so that's not bad.
