Hi,

After doing some searches, i have below two cars to check out;

- 2006 Honda Civic, 70000KM, 1.8 engine @ 13950
- 2009 Ford Focus Hatch, 90000Km, 2.0 engine @ 12950

I would appreciate some suggestions on which one of these will be a better option in terms of reliability, economy, resale value.
& is the cost of ford focus right for its age/km's run?

Prices seem fair, although ks are getting up on the Focus.
The Civic and Focus are quite different cars - Focus being more sporty and a good car dynamically, while the Civic is more mainsteam and while it may be a little less interesting to drive, it probably has a better reputation for reliability - although they're all within what we would deem reasonable choices.
As we discussed last week, with these types of cars, it comes down to your personal preference.

Thanks again.
If these were to be used for a period of one year(serviced/maintained well), which of them will have a better resale value and how much depreciation can i expect on the re-selling cost.

Sorry, I have no way of predicting the future, however, the 90k car is likely to have tipped over the 100k psychological barrier, so may have reduced the most.

Thank you very much, that helps.

Hi Again,

Civic is not coming within my range, as there is not much room for price drops there.
On the ford focus (- 2009 Ford Focus Hatch, 90000Km, 2.0 engine @ 12950) ; it is getting close to that 100000KM mark.
I read that the car would need to undergo some kinds of maintenance checks, part changes(like cambelt etc- if applicable?),
- what kind of checks/things would need to be done on the focus when it reaches 100000KM
- what would be the rough cost involved, eg. if cambelt is to be changed or tyres are to be changed, oil replacement , brake discs etc.,

Lastly isn't asking price a bit too high, should $9000 be right quote for it?

Appreciate your inputs.

No cambelt on this model. Other checks (tyres, brakes etc) depend on condition and previous history.
Price? - as low as you can negotiate.
