What are these like for towing? We are a family of 6 and plan to tow a light trailer with 6 mountain bikes on board. Intend on getting to trails around Auckland and Rotorua. I see there is a 4wd option, are these reliable? Thinking of grass and gravel roads with trailer. Also does the 2.4 have enough grunt for this? 90% of the time it's use will be the school run/shopping.

The Previa has a towing capacity of 600kg for unbraked trailers and 1600kg if the trailer has brakes, so depending on the weight of the trailer and load, you may need a braked trailer if you intend to tow with a Previa.
4WD always adds to the running cost of a vehicle as it will use more fuel, is heavier and there are more components requiring maintenance, so if most of your motoring is the usual school and shopping run, you may be better with a 2WD.

We are still on the hunt and are now looking at the 2006 model. Will the 2.4 have to work to hard with a family of 6 on board and during weekends with a trailer. Or are we better to go with the 3.5 v6? Are they both chain driven without cvt transmission? Thanks
