Morning,

I'm considering buying a 2010 Chrysler Pt Cruiser (listed on your site see link below) but I know nothing about the vehicles. Previously I have always bought Toyotas or Fords (Corolla and currently Ford Focus Zetec) so this is going outside my comfort zone with regards to buying a car.

I have seen various posts online regarding recalls and problems when it comes to the PT Cruiser. I'm wondering whether this would be something to be concerned about with this car in question.

I really like the look and style of the car and have around 15 - 20k to spend on something. Ideally that is stylish, is at least a 2 litre and has a good safety rating. I'm not sure whether the 16k asking price is good or whether I should be looking for something else.

Any advice?

Thanks,

As you allude to, this would be considered to be one out of left field and something of a model that's outside of the comfort zone for many buyers, hence there's probably a limited market for them and may not be an easy car to dispose of when you're ready to sell.
Being a 2010, it's the last year of production so possibly all the bugs were ironed out by then. However, they were never really sold in huge numbers in New Zealand so we don't have too much hands-on reliable data on them.
If you're looking for something that every mechanic on every street corner knows about and can fix, or something you can get parts for the same day, it's perhaps not for you. But if you want something that's not the same as what everyone else is driving and like to be different, then this could be just what you're looking for.
