I am Planning to buy an SUV soon, most probably used one. I need to choose between Mitsubishi Pajero 3.5-litre petrol & Toyota Landcruiser Prado 2.7 L I4 2TR-FE petrol 160hp. Year range - 2001 - 2004.

Please advise which one is better for Highway driving, riding comfort, safety, running cost & Annual Maintenance. I will be using my small car for daily driving and SUV for weekend and Holiday drives only.

Many Thanks

Being large, relatively heavy SUVs, both will be quite thirsty with petrol engines, even the 4 cylinder petrol Prado you mention (although, I have to admit, I know this engine from the Hilux rather than the Prado).
Having said that, the Prado is definitely the preference (regardless of whether it's the 2.7 or 3.0litre engine). The Mitsubishi GDI engine from this era is known to suffer running and performance problems, caused by carbon build-up and deposits.
As a generalisation, these large SUVs are much more popular with diesel engines and hold their value much better.
