Yes Mechanical Breakdown insurance. What category will a 2006 Toyota Avensis come under please.

Also I am buying a car and the dealer has said it has been appraised by the AA so will that cover the inspection necessary for the mechanical breakdown insurance and what is the excess for the insurance

No an appraisal would not be accepted for MBI , it would need to be a full Pre-Purchase Inspection or Mechanical Inspection.

The Excess for this vehicle would be $125

It would fall into the standard category.
1 Year $499
2 Year $599
3 Year $799

Providing that the is it a standard vehicle ie non turbo charged or modified in any way.
