Just wanted to get feed-back, general reviews above car. Reliability, maintainability, service, spare parts, does it hold its value, resale value.

Specs are as follow : 2.0cc, manual, 39,000km's, 4 cylinder, based on 03-07 model, include other features stuff electric power mirrors, windows, dual bags..etc

Can you pls give me market price according to your books?

Have asked the owner as to why the mileage is so low for 2004 model?

Jeeves

how is a Mitsubishi Lancer ES compare against a Mazda 3....with regards to durability, serviceability, maintainability...etc

ABayliss

The Lancer is OK and as far as cost of maintenance is concerned it's around the same as any other Japanese mainstream model. However, regarding your question of depreciation, it is not a car that's particularly popular or holds its value particularly well, however now that it's 11 years old it will have depreciated significantly, so should be cheap to buy.
The Mazda3 is the superior car. It's better to drive, holds its value better and is much more popular. Again, maintenance is similar to all the others in this sector.
FYI, the Red Book valuation guide has the 2004 Lancer ES Manual with a dealer retail value, in top condition listed at $7,100. By comparison, a similar Mazda3 is listed at $9,800, so that tells you something about how well regarded these two models are.
Bear in mind, these are top values, for cars on dealer's yards in top condition. You should expect to pay less, particularly if buying privately.

Hi ,
Thanks for that. Are you able to say if Lancer ES is chain or belt driven (2004).

Also I am comparing a 2005 Mazda, 2.0cc, manual which has done over 250,000kms against a 2004 Lancer ES, 2.0cc, manual with a mileage of 36,000km's. The seller wants around same price ..$5k approx for both vehicles. Which one would you go for?

Jeeves

forgot to add Mazda 3 is chain , Lancer is belt driven.

ABayliss

The 36,000km car is by far the better option. The 250,000km car has done a very high mileage and many components will be worn out.
It is recommended to change the cambelt at 100,000km or 5 years, whichever comes first. Being a very low mileage car, it's likely the belt has never been changed, so it would be advisable to change it now that the car is 11 years old.

Hi there,
wanted to get your views, compare contrast between Toy Alteeza vs Mazda 323.

Common attributes are:
Alteeza: 1999/2000, 2.0cc, 6 spd, manual transmission, good condition, low mileage,
323: 2005, 2.0cc, 5 spd, manual transmission, good condition, low mileage.

which model is better with fuel efficiency, driver comfort, fuel consumption, value for money, retains after sale market value...etc. Mazda is later model compared to Alteeza which is about 5 years older.

If you can kindly give me break down or feed back as to which is the best option to go for and fair market prices as well.

Thanks,
Jeeves

hi there,
can you pls give views/feed back, market value according to your books on below:

1. Toyota Alteza 1999, 6 spd, 172,000 kms', good condition, what is market price according to your books?

2. Toyota Alteza 2004, 6 spd, 178,000 km's, good condition, what is market price according to your books?

How does Altezza's measure up with ref to performance, value for money, fuel economy, after market resale value with comparison to a Mazda 323 with similar above characteristics or attributes?
