Recently bought a $30,000.00 car from car dealer. Dealer misrepresented speedo reading on advertising & sales & Purchase documents. Advertised at 94000 kms but had done 98000kms.
What sort of compensation is appropriate to buyer ($)

Hi there,
If you bought the car sight unseen and were relying solely on the dealer, then I would have expected the dealer to have mentioned the extra 4k on the clock.
However I would have thought ordinarily you may have seen the difference before buying the car. Maybe even a pre purchase inspection would have stated current mileage also.
In our opinion the difference of 4k would be difficult to put a dollar figure on compensation. The depreciation difference would be dependant on the specific type of vehicle. But we imagine it to be very minimal. Maybe a few hundred dollars.
