I'm in the process of buying my firat car and have a few things I'm unsure about. If it makes any difference In terms of what I should ask them to do, I would be paying cash.

After looking for a while and test driving a few cars, this one has my interest as the km on it are relatively low and it's really tidy inside.

I'm unsure about the excluded on road costs. It appears to have a WoF so is it just the rego or should I be expecting other hidden costs? How much would I be looking at?

When I took it for a drive, they had to jump start it, saying the boot had been left open and they would replace the battery if I did buy it. I am planning on getting an AA pre purchase inspection done so I'm assuming that would pick up if there were actually problems there?

From there, how do I go about getting an inspection done? Do I ask them to arrange it through AA or let them know I want to arrange to get one done? Then do I get the results sent to me or ask the dealer for it?

The last thing I was wondering is if there is anything else I should be cautious about in general as the window cards showed the car has been there since October 2014 and it had originally been 12000, reduced a couple of times to 9900 and the guy I dealt with said at that price it was still negotiable.

Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance :)

Hi there,
On road costs usually consist of your first registration and numberplates. Around $350
but I would ask the dealer what this cost will be.
This car will need a cambelt at 100km if it has not had one already. So I would ask a workshop for a quote. Subaru dealers should have a set quote on a cambelt. Also 100km for a Subaru is a large service, including in-tank fuel filter, all fluids, sparkplugs ect, as part of the regular manufacturers service schedule. So I would be prepared that this service may need carrying out. A pre purchace inspection is a good idea, they should check that the battery is being charged/ and tested.
