We are currently looking at "hitting the road" with a caravan (20 or 21ft - tare 2380kg, towball 175kg) - "actual" towing to be done once every 2-3 weeks (after parking up at various sites around the country). We looked at a 2010 Hyundai Sante Fe 2.2 diesel (3500kg tare figure on the towbar) but even though car dealers have assured us the Santa Fe will handle the load, we have our doubts. We're currently of the view that it's probably in our best interests to be looking at vehicles no less than 3L diesel utes/double cabs. Comments appreciated.

Hi there,
From what I can see, the braked towing capacity of the 2010 Santa Fe 2.2 diesel is only
2000kg so it may struggle a bit. So yes I would prefer to look for slightly larger engine
size with a towing capacity of at least 2700 kg. Vehicles like Ford Territory/ Ranger
Mazda BT-50, Nissan Navara ect.
