Hi,
I am a bit older and while I have resisted learning to drive.I am now buying my first car. My budget is between $5000-$5500 and have looked at a Toyota Vitz (2000-2004 models with about 100,000k on them), Nissan March (2004-2006 about 60-80k) and a Honda Fit (2004 with about 80k) Which in terms of safety and value for money would you suggest or possibly have any other suggestions that would fit into my budget. I will mainly be driving around the city and occasionally on the open road.

All these cars are good choices, the Honda Fit is very popular and goog looking. However there have been transmission complaints, which can usually be remedied by a transmission service and the correct fluid used,
The Vitz and March are slightly less visually appealing, but good on fuel and great for what you would need. Maybe even a Mazda Demio could be considered.
