Hi, I'm currently looking at buying a car, 2007 or newer, and preferably less than 70,000km. I had been looking at Mazda Demio/2, but have recently seen a Toyota Auris and I'm not sure which would be better. I am after something reliable, efficient, and low cost to maintain, that is preferably safe as well. Any help would be much appreciated, as online reviews have confused me further. Thanks

Hi there,
Both are good choices.
The Demio has smaller engine choices 1.2 or 1.5Ltrs, in CVT (1-speed) or conventional 4-speed Automatic forms.
The Auris all have CVT's and can be 1.5 or 1.8Ltr engines.
It really comes down to your personal preference and which transmission type you would prefer. CVT are interesting to get used to, but a generally smoother in operation, and good for fuel economy.
