I am struggling to decide between the X1 petrol or diesel. The diesel is around $10,000 more but felt better to drive and refined. We are a family of 4 and drive around 20000kms a year. BMW is offering a service package for both. Which would be of better resale value and overall a good buy? Your feedback will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Diesels have improved immensely over that last little while, they do seem quiet while offering plenty of power and torque, which is handy when loaded up or towing. Diesels usually travel further on a full tank, which is handy for travel.
After 3 years the reported Retail value for both only lean toward the Petrol by $800.
Overall running costs for both are pretty even when calculated on a cents per km basis.
