Hi experts,

We are looking at upgrading our 2001 Toyota Estima with 3 speed plus overdrive gearbox.
The car we are looking at is a 2009 new NZ Toyota Previa and I believe it has the CVT gearbox. Is there any advice I can please get on these autos regarding reliability (I hear they are very expensive to fix).

As a whole we have not received any complaints about Toyota CVT transmissions as a whole. But maybe speak to a transmission specialist in your area who may be able to help inform what to look out for or if they have experienced any problems.
Yes as with all transmissions, if they go wrong it is usually a costly fix.
