Hi there, I am looking at buying a 2007/2008 Japan imported Nissan Tiida 1.5l with CVT gearbox for my 23 year old daughter as a commuter car. Having seen a lot of complaints about the Nissan CVT gearboxes and related problems with these on earlier model cars, how reliable are the CVT gearboxes in the Tiida's from that year of manufacture? And can I expect Nissan NZ to be able to service / repair this vehicle? Also, how exp[ensive are these gearboxes to recon / replace (and will Nissan NZ honour the 10 year warranty that Nissan issued on these gearboxes)?

Thanks,
Poen

Hi there,
Due to the vast amount of Tiida's here, it is hard to say if all of them give problem and a lot of it could come down to how they have been serviced.
They do often present a problem, and because they are imported, it is a high possibility the Nissan NZ wouldn't offer any assistance for transmission repairs. Any work needed on a CVT transmission is usually very costly, you may need to speak to a transmission specialist for further information.
