This car has a 6 speed manual gearbox and changing from 1st to 2nd more often than not results in a crunch like sound, as though the syncros are not doing their job. I've tried slowing the change down, as recommended on a UK forum, but this doesn't always work. The dealer says that this is acceptable, but I say it's not on a $64,000 car. Any recommendation on what I do now?

Hi there,
It might benefit from a gear fluid change or might also have a slight clutch issue that also may need checking.
But if the vehicle is new and under manufactures warranty, you will need to let them know (and keep at them) that there is something wrong and that a gearbox shouldn't crunch into any gears as part of normal operation. And at least have it documented that you feel there is a problem and their reply to this, just in case there is anything that happens later.

Hi Cade

Many thanks for the advice. It's still under warranty so will discuss with them at the next service.
