Hi there,

I am considering purchasing a Honda Stream RSZ and would like to know of any reliability issues. I am particularly interested in the CVT gearbox, I see this as a plus, but don't want any reliability issues. Any purchasing advice around this model would be appreciated.

Regards,

Rhys

Hi there,
There are a few versions of the RSZ Stream, some CVT and some not. Honda CVT's in general had a common complaint about shuddering, which seems to pretty much be the only complaint received. Some say it is because the starting memory has be lost due to the battery being disconnected, resulting in a shudder on take-off. This just needs a reset from Honda (or someone with a good scan tool) to return it back to normal. Others say the fluid needs changing and an additive used. If anything other than this is required , repairs can get expensive. Best thing may be to speak with a transmission expert about the Stream transmission.

Excellent advice, thank you. Would this car be suitable for towing a lightweight caravan?

Hi there,
It does depend on the transmission fitted, but I wouldn't recommend towing anything more than a few hundred kg's with a CVT.
