I need a new set of tyres for a Toyota Granvia. This vehicle tends to chew through 4 ply car tyres so I currently have Nankang 8 ply light Truck tyres 225/70/R15, and have got approx 40k wear.

I am comparing these to similar Light Truck commercial tyres from Kuhmo ang GT Radial, but have no idea how these companies compare in terms of relative quality. All the dealers I talk to say that the brand they are selling is better than the alternatives of course. Can you give give any guidance to how these companies compare or other alternatives. Looking to spend approx $200 - $250 per tyre fitted.

The tyre brands you have mentioned both have a relatively good reputation. You should also consider the Firestone CV4000 or the Bridgestone R623. GT Radial tyres has a reputation for being competitively priced and this alone might sway you in their direction. You should ensure the vehicles wheel alignment is set correctly when you fit the new tyres and regularly check the tyre pressures. You need to ensure the tyre you are fitting meets the vehicles load and speed rating requirements – ask the tyre shop to confirm this. There are some dodgy tyre makes out there you should try avoid, but as long as you stick to a well known brand tyre you should do ok.

Thanks for the reply. Narrowed it down to Firestone CV4000 and GT Radial Maxmiler CX. Firestones marginally cheaper.
