Lancer has been totally reliable, took us to Rotorua in weekend from Auckland but Monday morning would not start. Engine turned over but not firing. AA called and officer stated IGNITION problem, NO SPARK and said call mechanic. Mobile mechanic attended and CONFIRMED SPARK, FUEL and injector pulse. Scanned but no codes present. Said to arrange tow to workshop. AA arranged tow.
Workshop investigated and found NO SPARK, coil, distributor and rotor not working. Replaced all and charged $618.84. Said car was TESTED and OK.
I drove vehicle home (about 3kms). On way car lost all power. Engine ran but throttle made no difference.
Phoned workshop who sent mechanics around. Told likely CHIP problem. They drove vehicle back to workshop. Got phone call next morning and told FUEL PUMP fault. New pump needed which would cost around $550.
I don't have endless cash. Seems nobody knows what is wrong. What should I do please?

This sounds highly unlikely to be a fuel pump problem. If the car had no spark previously, it's sounding like there's still a problem in the ignition system.
I'd be a little concerned that perhaps the problem is related to the ECU if fuel delivery is now a problem, as this is really the only thing that controls both spark and fuel.
