Hi.

I had my 2004 Toyota Corolla Fielder serviced by "Oil Changers" on Saturday. After reaching home, the car was parked for almost 6 hours. When I went back to the car and turned on the ignition, a pedestrian told me that there was something leaking from underneath the bonnet. When I checked underneath the car, the Oil filter had fallen on the road and all the oil was drained onto the road. I turned off the ignition and the car was parked on the same spot since Saturday. I took it to Oil changers today in the morning and they told me that the engine was in a good condition and there was no damage to the engine.

Could you please advise me some of the symptoms I should watch out for potential engine damage as a result of this fault as I have been told by them to monitor the engine for the next few days.

Kind Regards

I'm a little confused - surely you're talking about the oil filter, not the fuel filter? If the fuel filter is removed, fuel will leak out, not oil.
I suspect the oil filter had not been tightenned correctly, causing oil to leak onto the road. If damage had occurred, the likely symptoms would be knocking from the engine, the oil light staying on and possibly the engine sluggish to crank over and smoking from the engine.
If the oil light was not on when you were driving the car, it's unlikely any damage has been done.

I beg you a pardon. It is actually the oil filter that came off.

Thank you very much for the information.

You're welcome. I note that you've edited the original post to say "oil filter", not "fuel filter". I didn't know a post could be edited once answered.. I guess we all live and learn!
