I recently bought a new Toyota Corolla for which the recommended tyre pressures are 32psi front and 30psi rear. When I checked the tyres in my garage (cold) they were all only a fraction under 40psi which I consider over inflated. I phoned the dealer, Auckland City Toyota, and the person I spoke to said 40psi was not a problem and that he always keeps his own tyres at 40psi. I find this hard to believe when the manufacturer recommendation is no more than 32psi.

I'm surprised a franchised dealer would recommend pressures around 30% greater than the manufacturer recommends.
This car should be run at the pressures the manufacturer recommends - at a push a couple of psi over would be OK, but not 10psi.
