Hi, my Escape (86000 km) has started juddering a lot when travelling at a specific speed, around 85km per hour, as if it were changing gears continuously. Should I get the electrics checked out first rather than the transmission ? What questions do I need to ask a garage to make sure they have the right diagnostic equipment before booking it in ? Thanks for your help.

If you believe the juddering seems to be coming from the transmission, it's important to have it looked at urgently to avoid any potential further damage. I'd recommend a transmission specialist rather than an auto-electrician, as even if the fault is due to a solenoid or electronics, much of this componentry is inside the transmission and a transmission specialist will be much more familiar with these systems than an auto-electrician.
