Dear advisor,

The steering makes dull "tuck tuck tuck"sounds when turned; with louder and more sounds when turning right. I went to an empty car park to test it repeatedly. Somehow the sounds became less loud as a result of the repeated turning of the steering/testing, but they are still there. What could be the problem, and how much is it likely to cost to fix? Thanks very much.

Hi there,
Just a few questions to get a better idea of the problem.
What make and model of car do you have?.
Does the sound happen while the car is moving, or stationary?.
It sounds like it could be a worn out cv joint, they make a click click noise when driving the vehicle around tight corners initially, and can be heard at low speed.
Not a huge issue, and should only cost few hundred dollars to fix.

Hi Cade,

Thanks for your reply. It's a 2001 Honda Civic Ferio (import). Sorry I didn't think to test it when stationary. The tuck tuck sounds disappear when the car is being driven in a circle; the sounds occur only when the steering is being turned, with the car in motion.

Not sure if this is relevant: "EPS" is among the dashboard lights when the key is turned on. Electric power steering?

Thanks.

Hi there,
Yes it a an electric power steering system.
They do seem to have a few issues.
I suggest getting a mechanic or honda specialist to take a look.
