Hi, I have an 02 primera CVT and in the last couple of days noticed that when i pull off the car doesn't respond as fast until i reach about 42km and then on the motorway it wont change into a higher gear - i believer this is a safe mode the car is in. Anyway i haven't had time yet to take it in to a mechanic but have done a self diagnostic test and found it may be the step motor in the cvt. My question is can this be replaced or does the whole cvt need to be replaced. Thanks

Hi there,
Unfortunately these cars are prone to cvt faults. I recommend you take it to a transmission
specialist. Sorry to say that it may be costly and not worth repairing. Also it may be hard to find a replacement as it is a common fault with all the nissan primera cvts around this year.
