With the speed limit enforced to within 4 km/hr the following situation really bothers me with our 2013 Toyota RAV4.

We recently bought a signature class RAV4. It's speedo shows 100km/hr when we are only travelling at 92 km/hr. After requesting to have it fixed I have been told stories from its a safety feature to slow drivers down to that it can't be recalibrated as its a safety feature. Should this be covered by warranty? And if not what do I need to do to get it calibrated correctly?

Hi there,
Every vehicle has a built in degree of speedo reading difference. Legally they have to read higher than speed travelled and never lower. The tolerance is 10% plus 4kmh max.
So at 100kmh, your speedo should read legally no more than 114kmh.
Your vehicle falls within this limit.
Below is the actual formula used.
0 ? (V1 - V2) ? 0.1 V2 + 4 km/h

Where V1 is the speed the speed shown and V2 is the actual speed.
