My car battery exploded while recharging it. There is acid spill under the bonnet and leakage. What should I do to avoid further damage to the car?

Sorry to hear that happened. I have heard of it happening occasionally.
You will need to make sure you neutralise the acid. Wash thoroughly with water, with some people using a mix of baking soda also. Once clean and dry, treat the damaged areas with a primer/ paint to prevent rusting.
