Hi, I'm looking to purchase a Nissan Wingroad Tiptronic 2005. (1.8 lt automatic). How can I tell if it has a CVT automatic transmission or not? Is having a CVT transmission more of a problem than automatic transmissions generally?

Thanks.

Hi there,
The CVT is described as a "one speed" so doesn't necessarily feel like it is changing gears like a conventional transmission. The revs stay constant while the speed increases.
The Nissan import CVT is more likely to be a problem for 2000-2010, so I would take care if you are looking as they are known to give trouble. More commonly it can just be a servicing issue, they may just need a good service and genuine fluid. If in doubt, consult a transmission specialist for more in depth information.
