I Had the fuel pump replaced recently on my Mazda Capella (actually broke down in Wanaka 800km from home!).Since the installation there is now a loud humming noise coming from the rear ,I assume from the pump.

The Mechanic suggested replacing the Fuel Filter which I have done, but the humming is still there...can be heard when the car is idling and changes pitch when I turn the lights on .

I can just about live with the noise but worry that the pump is faulty or not mounted properly? already spent $500 on the repair so really want to avoid having get at the fuel pump again because hard to get at near the fuel tank

Many thanks!

Hi there,
A lot of aftermarket pumps can be quite loud as they are usually used in applications where noise is not an issue. They can also be heard more if you have the rear seats down or interior removed for some reason.
There is a possibility that the pump operating vibrations are being transmitted through the body, if you are still concerned, get the pump install and operation checked for piece of mind.
