Hi I need your advise please. Our car was diagnosed for a cambelt and water pump repair and they priced us for 1100 would that be fair enough? Our car is almost a year old when we had it trade in. Will it be covered by our AA comprehensive car insurance or should we contact the car dealer and ask if it will be covered by a warranty. Need AA's expert advise on this please.

Hi there,
Cam belts and water pumps are generally considered serviceable items or items that wear out and need replacing over time, and so would not usually be covered by insurance.
If they have failed prematurely or shortly after replacement, then it could be claimed for by the selling dealer if you've not long purchased the vehicle (12 months might be a bit too long to claim), or if you have purchased a mechanical warranty it may be covered if all the conditions of the warranty have been met. Or you may go back to the workshop who did the job, if you recently have work done on the cam belt or water pump. The price for replacement of the cam belt and water pump sound s right, (depending on the vehicle) they are mostly due for replacement around 10 years or every 100,000kms.
