Hi,
I just bought a secondhand Mazda Premacy 2011 20E with istop functionality. My issue is that I don't even know if it is working or not. I have driven the car in excess of 20 to 30kms so far and the i-stop light does become green, so whenever I stop at an intersection (flat), I press the breaks and within a few seconds the i-stop green light disappears but my engine is still running (idling). Looking at the conditions for i-stop to work, I would have fulfilled the conditions for this function to work (i.e. air con off, breaks pressed, steering wheel is straight and I'm not touching it, etc). Some questions:
(a) If the I-Stop actually worked, would I actually feel that the engine has actually shut down? i.e. similar to a Prius?
(b) If the I-stop was working, would the green light disappear? Or does it stay on?
(c) If the I-Stop function is actually damaged or doesn't work for this particular car, would the green light even come on?

Thanks!

Hi there,
It may be best to go and speak to a Mazda agent, usually if there is a problem, a fault code would be generated and a light permanently on. There are many situations where it will and won't work, and it's not the same in every vehicle brand.
