Hi, I'm about to buy a Nissan serena, and I'd like to know what's better, a manual transmision with petrol, or an automatic with diesel? I've got both options, same kms.

I'd also like to know if they have a cambelt or a chain belt, models are:

Nissan Serena 1996 petrol 1.6 MT
Nissan Serena FX 1995 diesel 1.9 AT

Cheers!

You don't state what the mileage is, but obviously, these are both old vehicles so neither will be without risk.
Probably an older petrol vehicle with a manual transmission is likely to be less risky than an equivalent age diesel vehicle with auto, so on that basis, the petrol is potentially the better bet.
According to data available to us, both are chain driven engines.
