Hi, I have a second hand 2006 Outback 80,000km Jap import, good nick, runs very well, fully serviced. The best fuel consumption I get around town with a light foot is 7.3km per litre ( > 13 litres/100km)which is the same as my 4 litre Ford Territory with a heavier foot. Doesn't seem quite right however I had a 1999 Subaru 250T with much the same consumption so I am thinking its a Subaru Boxer engine thing. However the quoted figures for the 2006 are around 9 litres per 100km, just can't see this happening. What do you think?

Hi there,
Unfortunately Subarus are not known for fuel economy. Quoted fuel figures are usually very hard to obtain due to the strick conditions used to get that figure to start with.
Usually the figures quoted are a combined average of round town and highway travel.
13 ltrs per 100k round town is pretty good.
