I have recently acquired a 2006 Audi TT 2.0T FSI - an automatic, petrol turbo, and a Japanese import. I did not have a manual at time of purchase and neglected to check fuel type. I put about $30 of regular in and did not drive it much for a couple of months so refuel was infrequent. Then I got given the manual and it said that I should use 95.

My question is - my nearest fuel station is Gull (next nearest is 11kms away), and they don't have 95 but have this brewtroleum stuff at 98 octane. Is this okay for my car? I went into the local Audi dealership to check, and they didn't know and couldn't assist! All they said was there would be something on the fuel flap - but I don't read Japanese and there is nothing obvious.

Gull's own data says check with the dealer...now I have no idea what to do and have just been putting small fills of this 98, as I had not been using the car daily. This is about to change so - Am I risking major damage to the car/turbo by using this crazy stuff?

Thanks

Hi there,
As a rule, any turbo vehicle likes to run on the highest octane possible.
On our AA bio fuel chart, is says your vehicle is ok to run on bio fuel blends E3 and E10.
98 is optimum but 95 should be ok if 98 is not easy to find.

Hi.

Thanks for the information - What threw me was the 'Jap imports are different' when I was searching, then read elsewhere (I think maybe on your site) that Japan does 95 but not 98.

I also found information that said a biofuel was bad for a turbo and I should use only 'real' gas.

The more I researched, the more confused I got. A case of Dr Google is not a good stopping place, even when the manufacturer cannot help, maybe?

I am relieved that brewtroleum won't hurt my car and I don't have to waste gas and time to go get gas! Thanks again.
