I have just bought a New 2016 Mazda 2.
The manual says to use 91.
The dealership says that AA recommends 95 or 98.
I was told, by the dealership, that if I changed to 95/98 the car would readjust to the new fuel and run better but I would not be able to go back to 91 because the car would run badly (sputter/ miss etc).
The car came with 91. I've done 1200km and have an average of 5.8L/100km
I am trying to find out, if I converted to 95/98, what the change in fuel economy would be.
I have not been able to find any useful statistics on-line.
I notice that AA has rated the 2015 Mazda 2 as its small car - 'Car of the year", so I was hoping the AA has done fuel comparisions.
Comments please.

Hi there,
The noticeable difference between using 91-95 fuels would be very minimal, it is often that a vehicle may run slightly better on 95, but the extra cost of purchasing the fuel may out way any fuel economy savings. If the car can adapt to 95 it can surely adapt back to 91.
We don't have any fuel comparison information sorry, and if the vehicle manufacture recommends 91, we wouldn't be running anything else. Our information says 91 octane is recommended.
