I just received an email from my rental car provider that I was given an infringement notice ($150) for using a special vehicle lane in Auckland (Hobson St). I do not recall driving in a special vehicle lane, especially since this incident supposedly took place during rush hour (4pm) and there were several construction sites/blocked roads in Auckland CBD that made driving more challenging.
Is there anything that can be done about this?

Hi Chris,
The centre of Auckland has pretty much every outside lane turned into a bus lane, and has been heavily policed lately. There should be a camera video or photo available if you really want to dispute you being there at that time. Unfortunately if it was you in the lane, there is very little that can be done, apart from writing in and stating the circumstances prevented you from using the correct lane.
