After 8 years my project car is finally getting close to completion.

An issue I have run into is that the new gearbox on the vehicle does not have a speedo output. I knew this at time of purchase but had planned to run a GPS speedo (nothing cheap and nasty, an Autometer 3983). Since then I have discovered that GPS speedos are not legal for road use

My question is, would I be able to get my vehicle certified with a speedo such as the above or do I need to downgrade from my racing diff to a stock diff with speedo output in order to run an analog one and be able to get a cert?

Thanks.

Hi there,
The only suggestion I can think of is to find an inductive sensor that mounts on the driveshaft or wheel hub similar to bikes, carts, or rallycar trip computers. But the thing is to make sure it can register speed and be able to be calibrated somehow.
