Hi,

I have a Nissan Vanette 2008 (private usage). The specs says it is a 3 seat van (3 passengers in front seats), but in the back it has the mounting points for a seat and the seat belt pre-installation (holes and a bottom box on each side)

I have now an original new rear seat for the exact model (it's even the same seat upholstery and I think it can fold) and I would like to fit the seat and seat belts so the van would be a 6 seat van from now on.

What are the legal steps I should follow to legally carry 6 passengers?

Thank you!

You will need to contact a Low Volume Vehicle (LVV) certifier before attempting any modification with regards to seat belt, seats and seat belt anchorages as they need to meet required standards. An LVV certifier can guide you through the process and there's the possibility that the vehicle will need to be reclassified for a different class. But the LVV certifier will guide you accordingly. See the LVVTA website for contact details.
