280zxowner

Hey i brought a car about 3 months ago on trademe and it all seemed fine, i drove it around warrented and registered for those 3 months (i even got a warrent with it) then it got green stickered for a loud exhaust, i wasnt to worried at that point, i took it in, they tested it and it was just legal but when they went to enter the info in the system they noticed my chassis number stamped on the car didnt match the one registered to the plates. anyway long story short i found out that about 3 owners before me the plates had been put on that chassis but it never was taken in for cert. now im looking to reregister the chassis as i found the info for it, the old plate number and that it was dereg in 2009, now problem now is that one of the chassis numbers was drilled out for a throttle linkage by a previous owner. the police have no interest in the vehicle but will i be able to reregister it with 1 missing number? or how do i get it back on the road, is there such thing as body cert?

Hi there,
It should be ok, as there should be another plate to identify the car by.
If in doubt, take the car into a centre and ask them what they think.
The compliance centre will advise you and you also may need a low volume cert if the car has been modified.
