I was on the motorway (Doing the speed limit and following about 3-4 seconds behind the driver. The driver suddenly stopped without warning and for no reason (no lights, not turning, no cars ahead of them, nothing running across the road) It was a full on brake as it was a very quick sudden stop. I couldn't swerve into the other lane because I would have hit another car so I braked and ended up hitting the bumper causing damage to both our bumpers and no one was hurt. I offered to show her my licence and trade details but she wouldn't have a bar of it and refused to show me her licence. I've taken down her number plate and was wondering how I should go about reporting it. I know I am partly at fault but I was wondering if she is also at fault?

Hi there,
I have experienced this exact situation before.
I went to the Police and they tracked the driver and spoke to them and they didn't want to pursue the matter. The Police advised that i was in the wrong because i hit the back of them, and if I wanted to pursued the matter. I could be would be with a traffic offence.
The Police may find the other driver had something to hide, but you would end up facing an offence also.
