Hi, my son has recently passed his L test so is learning to drive. However I've noticed that the L plates which are sold at the AA are displayed in the windscreens. The rear window tint of the car he will be learning in (a 2008 Suzuki Swift Sport) is too heavy to be able to see the plate effectively. I've looked up on the NZTA website and nowhere does it say that the plates MUST be in the windows, therefore I am assuming that it is legal to display the plates on the exterior of the car, like is required in Australia. Is there anyone who knows of any place I would be able to obtain L plates that are able to be displayed on the exterior of the car?

Hi there,
The driver licence rules state that the L plate must be displayed on the front and the rear of the car in clear view. It doen't specifically say windscreens.
The AA shop sell velcro attached L plate sets, available in shop or online by the looks of it.
