I brought a second hand nissan pulsar 1997 from a dealership just over three months ago. Unfortunately, it now has a blown head gasket with repairs costs estimated at $2,500.

I originally brought the car for $4,000 and when I purchased it - it had done 190,000 km. Since I purchased it - I have driven about 2,000 km.

Do you think I have a reasonable case to ask the dealer to cover either part or the full repair costs?

Thank you

Hi there,
Yes every car sold by a dealer is covered by the CGA (consumer guarantees act).
So you can go back to the dealer and as for assistance, but you must give them first opportunity to remedy. And they may offer to cover part of the repairs due to time since purchase. We would say 3 months is the maximum time to still be covered for most issues.
If you get it repaired and then ask for help, you have relieved them of their responsibility.
