The road code states that :
"A temporary speed limit of 30km/h applies. Temporary speed-limit signs are usually put up when there is work being done on or near the road.

When no work is in progress do the road maintenance crew need to put the Temporary speed limit signs down?

Thank you Geoff

Even if there is no work under way, it may still be necessary to display temporary speed limit signs if there are no centre line markings or edge line markings, or if the road surface is still under repair or there is gravel on the road etc., and to otherwise warn drivers of possible hazards.
