The warranty on my 2011 Toyota Corolla is due to expire next month. I have the option to extend this for three years at a cost ranging from $684 to $1,764, depending on the level of cover. My last Corolla was very reliable, so am wondering whether it is worth the additional expense and whether the warranty offers any greater protection than the Consumer Guarantees Act?

Hi there,
The strength of the CGA is strongest on the day of purchase, and diminishes from there on. It will not take the place of a mechanical warranty. Maybe consider the worst thing that could go wrong with your vehicle in 3 years and would the $1,764 that you would spend on a warranty, cover it if you didn't have it?. Like any insurance, you hope you won't need it, but if you do, you are glad you had it.
