Hi

I have recently purchased a replacement car (2006 BMW 530I) the dealer has put new tyres on it. These are Jinyu 225/45/R17. The car should have 225/50/R17.

My questions are.
How much of a difference does (in this case) the incorrect tyre size make? What is the impact of this?

Do I have any come back on the dealer for them being the wrong size?

I am struggling to find much out about the brand, Jinyu appears to be a cheap chinese brand and this concerns me. I would normally put bridgestone on my cars.

They appear to be about $130.00 each and I would normally spend more around $250.00

Am I being overly picky or are these tyres ok?

Hi there,
The difference between the two sizes would be very minima. http://www.inawise.com/tyre-calculator/tyre-size-calculator.html
I don't think that there would be any come back on the dealer. Maybe your best bet would be to get the tyres you want and sell off your others, or even trade at the tyre shop.

That is a great Calculator thanks.

Any comments on the brand?

I don't know specifically about these tyres, but it doesn't sound like a brand I would put on my car either, if I could afford better ones.
