Hi I am looking at buying a car from a dealership. I have asked for a breakdown of the on road costs. They would not give me a breakdown and said it was a set price of $500 which covers "Brand New WOF, 6 Months Registration, FM Band Expander, Engine Service and PD Inspection, AA Appraised Inspection and Valet Groom". I only want the WOF and registration all the other things are not necessary to me. Is it possible to negotiate on road costs? So I only pay for what is required to get the car on the road? Or are these set prices?

Hi there,
These are generally always set prices and are unique to the dealer, they can range from $350-$1000 and the items included in this does vary. But there is usually no negotiation on this amount and all part of the costs involved when buying a vehicle.

On road costs were not mentioned in the online advertisement for this vehicle. Is this considered misleading advertising?

It does look like they must display the price and the fact that on-road costs apply.
