I moved into shared accommodation in Otahuhu around July 2016. I park outside of our building. All tenants do. I received a parking infringement ticket today. I wander if there is a mistake? This is not an Office building but residential accommodation. Where do the tenants park otherwise if not as near the building as possible? Otahuhu is a very unsafe area for car theft. We tenants prefer to park as near the building possible.

You would need to check the parking signs around the area, and also make sure that who ever monitors the area has your vehicle registration number listed as being a resident. (if resident vehicles are exempt from any parking restrictions in the area)
You will need to write in to the infringement bureau to query the fine, and hopefully they can cancel it.
